In Watford the council has confirmed seven more electric vehicle charging points are going to be added over the next few weeks.
The council in Watford Borough are encouraging people to switch from petrol and diesel cars to electric ones. This will be better for the environment which is the reason they are advocates for it. New charging points for the vehicles are being installed, to provide additional green energy in Watford.
The locations of these new 7kW fast EV chargers are Stamford Road, Sutton Road, Granville Road, Sotheron Road, Mildred Avenue and Grosvenor Road. Each of these sites will have charging for up to two cars.
This amazing addition has been funded by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and Electric Blue along with the borough council. This means that users will be able to charge their cars for 32p per kilowatt hour using the Electric Blue app, and they can top up for a max of four hours, or take a full charge if they leave it over night to charge.
This comes just after the council have installed five on-street EV charging points in 2020 as a part of their commitment to reduce the carbon footprint of Watford. Their aim is to become net zero carbon by 2030. Currently, Victoria Road, Bradshaw Road, Essex Road, Durban Road East and Shaftesbury Road all feature charging facilities. There is also EV charging in Cassiobury Park and Watford Business Park. The Mayor of Watford mentioned that as the amount of electric cars in their area increases they needed to be ready for this. The council has also mentioned that work is being done with Ringway to install 15 lamp column chargers. More information, such as locations, will be given soon!
